Code of Conduct

Student

All students are expected to be responsible for their actions and have the power to determine appropriate social and academic decisions. The Nye staff will provide opportunities and activities for students to develop effective self-management skills. Students are expected to adhere to the following Code of Conduct.

School Philosophy

  • All students have the right and responsibility to learn
  • All staff have the right and responsibility to teach/work in the most positive learning environment possible.
  • Family, staff and students have the right and responsibility to work together in the student's best interest.

General Rules of Conduct

  1. Students will learn classroom standards, problem solving techniques, and social skills from the Nye staff and are expected to demonstrate their knowledge on a daily basis.
  2. Students are expected to maintain appropriate behavior and self-control at all times.
  3. Students are expected to respect the authority of the Nye staff and to listen and learn from all the adults on campus.
  4. Students are to be in class, ready to learn at 7:40am. For safety, all students are to enter by the west gate and go directly to their assigned lunch table no earlier than 7:15 am.
  5. Once on campus, written permission and site approval is required for students to leave prior to dismissal.
  6. Students are expected to keep the campus clean and free of litter.
  7. To ensure safety, students are to walk at all times. Running is permitted only when supervised by adults during recess, lunch recess and P.E.
  8. Students must not do anything that will endanger themselves or another person.
  9. After recess and lunch, students freeze at the bell. When the whistle is blown, students are to walk to their designated area and wait for their teacher.
  10. Students may not bring gum, candy, toys, games or electronic equipment to school.

School Attire

Students are expected to wear clothing appropriate for normal school activities. A student's clothing should not present a safety concern as he/she participates in school activities including an active physical education program. Clothing should not be of such extreme that it draws undue attention to the student, nor should it distract or interfere with the teaching and learning in the classroom.
