Treats, Parties and Snacks

The students, families and staff in San Diego Unified face increasing health risks that can affect their wellness, thereby impacting their quality of life and possibly their life span. The district is committed to providing an environment where students and staff are supported in making healthy choices for lifelong health. San Diego Unified's Framework for Wellness is designed to encompass student, parent, staff, and community wellness and should serve to further advance wellness throughout the district.

At Nye Elementary, we value celebrating children, their birthdays, and their accomplishments. Each classroom has a special way to celebrate, please contact each student's teacher. In accordance with our San Diego Unified School District Health & Wellness Framework, celebrations will not include any food items or infringe upon valuable instructional time. While we don't use snacks for birthday celebrations, a classroom teacher may choose to celebrate a class accomplishment with a snack item from the approved list. This list does not address any food allergies that may be present.
